I had the absolute honor of interviewing the Purely Twins, Michelle and Lori, about their new Purely Fit Life Club. I love the concept of this online workout club, where a gym is not required, workouts are short and effective, and the ultimate goal is to enjoy the journey and be healthy while listening to your body.
The community is great, the twins provide weekly motivation and support, the workouts are fun and adaptable to different fitness levels, and the resources abound with an archived workout library and cooking videos. Wow, that’s a great monthly value package for less than the cost of one fitness class.
So let’s get to it and hear what the Purely Twins had to say. . .
What is Purely Fit Life Club? How has it evolved?
When we first started this club it was set-up a little differently. But [as] more and more people that signed up it was getting a little difficult to keep up with and making sure everyone was receiving the right information. We continued to research other ways to go about having our daily workout program. And we discovered membership sites. And researched several different membership software and decided on one to try out. We wanted a place where everything was, so it was easy for our clients to be able to go back and see archived videos, schedules, posts, etc. We wanted it to be a daily thing, and the membership site enables us to control things and be able to have everything in one spot. It has evolved so much over these past few months. Each week we are trying to make things better and easier for our clients so they can get the most out of the program.
Do you have to be at a certain fitness level to join?
No. We welcome any fitness level. Anyone of any age can do our workouts. We provide modifications for each workout. We are working on doing more with our beginners, for those that are just starting off. Providing them [with] a schedule to follow and guidelines. We plan to do more soon. But really anyone who is wanting to stay on track with working out, those that want to save time from going to the gym, and for those who want to get in shape in a fun environment, our program is for them!
What if I don’t care for a particular exercise? Do you offer alternatives?
You are never forced to do any workout or any exercise that you don’t feel comfortable with. We provide modifications for most exercises. And we always recommend the clients to listen to their bodies. And that they can do really any archived workout that they like. If you find certain workouts you like, then by all means do them! If you are not having fun with working out, then that’s not the point and you won’t stick with it. We try to make each workout FUN and DIFFERENT. That way you don’t know what to really expect and it’s fun as you do different moves each day.
How do you personalize your program for each Purely Fitter?
Over time we realized that doing personalized workouts was getting to be too much work for us. We could not keep up. We wanted to find a way to make workout videos that anyone could do. We are going to be providing more and more guidelines for those with different fitness goals. From [those] wanting to lose weight to those wanting to gain more muscle mass. We personalize our program in that there is something for beginners, intermediate, and advanced individuals. There is something for everyone. And when current clients request a certain style of workout, we do our very best to make it happen.
Why do you believe in short, interval workouts? Is it really possible to get fit on as little as 15 minutes per day?
Yes it is! We are living proof that you can. We’ve been doing short interval workouts for a few years now and each year we love them even more. We are now at a point in our fitness routine that we’ve had to add in more weights to challenge our body even more. But we love interval workouts as they keep the workouts fun, engaging, and helps with making the workout go by fast. Before you know it, the workout is over. And you did not waste 2-3 hours out of your day working out.
What is your favorite exercise move?
This is tough, as we like so many!! But our favorites would be planks, lower ab raises on equalizer, and any style of push-ups as they are so empowering.
Are rest days important? If so, why?
Yes we feel rest days are important. Your muscles need days to rest and repair. We usually always have 1-2 active rest days each week. If you overtrain that depletes your growth and strength in your workouts.
Can you tell us a little bit about your personal training program? Why did you select the program you did?
We wanted a way to touch as many people as possible. And we felt having an online club membership would be best because that way we can help anyone from all over. [W]e have several international clients and readers. And doing the workouts in your home makes it very convenient and effective for people because you’re not wasting time driving to and from the gym, [and] walking around the gym not knowing what to do. We design your workouts each week so you don’t have to think. You just get in, do the workout, and you’re done!
What are some of the non-fitness offerings that are included in your club membership?
As much as [we] love to workout and love getting others to workout, nutrition is just as important. And the mind is [a] very important piece of the puzzle too. So we provide health and life tips to help our club members live a healthy happy life. We provide weekly motivation to keep our clients inspired. We also share our daily eats to help give our clients sample meals for them to get ideas. We do a few cooking classes to help show our clients how to put together quick and easy meals. We try to help our clients find peace and balance in their lives one workout and one meal at a time.
